I think the word TREKKING was invented so that all the people who have hiked on MOUNT EVEREST would stop trying to gatekeep hiking from the rest of the world, stop condescending to all the hikers who’ve never had the opportunity to amble about on the world’s tallest mountain for weeks on end.

Someone probably thought, Geez! Just give them their own word, already!

We get it, it’s hard! Harder than we could ever imagine! We’ve only ever HIKED IN THE U.S., so we couldn’t possibly understand…

So, let’s call you trekkers, not hikers, and that way you can all bind together and irritate each other with stories about how simultaneously WONDERFUL and AWFUL trekking is.
