So I’ll tell you right now, I do not like crocodiles. They give me the creeps. They stay so still that they are:

1). Not usually very interesting to photograph... but it’s the fact that

2). I almost NEVER SEE THEM (unless someone points them out) that makes these sneaky reptiles so especially repulsive to me. 😬

I feel like I am overly susceptible to their particular brand of trickery, as I have a history of being completely oblivious to a crocodile’s presence until I’m basically right on top of it.

Years ago, in Botswana, I remember having my hand dangling lackadaisically out of a canoe when someone pointed out a hiding crocodile in the reeds a few feet away. I recoiled my hand so fast I almost capsized the whole boat. 🥴

How did I not see that??! It’s beyond upsetting to me.

Every time!

And it’s not like THEY sneak up on ME, it’s almost always that I am obliviously bumbling right towards IT!!! 😝
