Giraffe Island
Lake Naivasha, Kenya
I am literally just posting these images right as I finish them, lol, mostly due to my excitement… and I will come back later and share stories about how they came to be.
For example, during this particular shoot, I accidentally got in between a mamma giraffe and her baby (I swear I didn’t see the little guy there in the tall grass! 😝), and the kerfuffle that ensued is definitely worth sharing!
But just know that these giraffe images are the rare result of being allowed to actually walk around— on foot and unaccompanied— amongst the wild animals of Kenya.
It has an actual name, I’m sure, but I just think of it as Giraffe Island. 🤪 🤷♂️
You get there by a small boat (it’s like a canoe with a tiny motor) and since it really is an island, part of the appeal is that— in theory, at least— it is completely devoid of all large predators.
Hence the ability to walk around the island in relative safety.
Unless, of course, you get in between a mamma giraffe and her baby, then your ass is in some trouble. 😳
But who would be that stupid?!
😂😝😂😝
A story for another day. 😉
