I can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt, that my life as a photographer, a traveler, and just a human being, would never have been complete without seeing the Egyptian Pyramids. If I had yet to go there, I’d probably still be reading about them and researching and planning a trip to Egypt this very second.

However, I am going to be very honest with you, once you are there, with the pyramids, there is very little to do. Everything that was once inside of them has been removed and transferred to the Egyptian Museum, so they are completely empty. You also can’t climb on them anymore. In fact, anyone who tries could face up to three years in an Egyptian jail. So, after you’ve rode a camel around for a bit, that leaves just standing outside of them in the hot sun, thinking your thoughts. But even this is going to be short lived because any time you are unoccupied and do not appear to be engaged in any perceptible activity, the VENDOR HARASSMENT will start. You’ll consider RENTING ANOTHER CAMEL to ride, just to get away from all the harassing peddlers.

My advice is to temper your expectations and know that seeing the Great Pyramid of Giza will involve exactly that, and little more.

Oh. Except for this.

The locals showed us their strange ways and foreign customs and encouraged us to participate in the traditional tweaking of the pyramid like a nipple, which we can only assume is a sacred practice of the Egyptian people. We tweaked it to the best of our ability, and then broke bread with them and were merry.
