Solo Elephant
Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya
Any time I see a herd animal inexplicably all alone, I always start wondering what happened— what’s the backstory here?
Assuming that the animal isn’t an obnoxious oaf that the herd purposefully ditched, lol, I wonder how hard that animal had to work to achieve this precious alone time?
How much effort was involved in order to break free from the herd, even just for a short while?
Then I start thinking about our modern concept of being alone, and how it is mostly only possible INDOORS.
When was the last time you were alone in a wide open outdoor space?
And I don’t mean just you and your friends, I mean JUST YOU! Truly alone.
Think about it. Most of us would really have to go out of our way to accomplish this! You’d have to purposefully drive yourself — alone— to a remote place and then walk out into a field — by yourself— until you could no longer see a highway or cars.
I’m trying to decide if this “alone experiment” allows you to still bring your pet with you? Because as you can see in my photo, even the line elephant still has his trusty little white bird.
Lol, always with that little white bird! 😆
(Btw,in my experience the little white bird phenomenon has been unique to Kenya. Elephants in other places have different sidekicks.)
