Swayambhu Temple, Kathmandu, Nepal
Move over Helicopter Parenting and make room for Monkey Parenting! Oh hold on, it looks just like Human Parenting. I've watched dads use this same halfhearted, distracted grip while their kid destroys an entire checkout line shelf full of gum. Or toys. Or candy. Or once, in a Taco Bueno, I watched a mother hold a child and let him depress the self-serve soda fountain lever behind her the entire time she talked on the phone. I know she must have heard it. Not to mention it filled up the drip tray almost immediately, and was cascading down the soda machine and all of the cabinetry onto the floor. And she just yapped away and let him do it (presumably because he was being very quiet while he did it).
What a waste.
Do you know there are thirsty monkeys at the Monkey Temple in Nepal that don't even have any Pepsi to squirt all over their obelisks?? Shame on you.
The Kathmandu monkeys do have THIS though, to keep them entertained...
And this one monkey can even somehow do THIS!
